California livin' - not dreamin'

Saturday was one of those days that reminded me of summer.

First of all, the day was beautiful. High of 75, no wind, slight wisping of clouds. So, yes, I made full use of the motorcycle. Enjoy this photo I took of a beach access near Balboa.

And the day was packed with things to do. Saturday had enough events to spread over an entire weekend. Even two.

The events offered:

- VT football at 10 a.m.

- International Cycle Show at Long Beach Arena.

- Santa on Retro Row on 4th St.

- Belmont Christmas parade at 6 p.m.

- I See Hawks in L.A. at Folk Music Center in Claremont.

Other developments:

- I caught stomach flu Wednesday afternoon, called into work sick Thursday and, by the time I'd completely recovered Saturday morning, I had lost seven pounds.

- Bored and sick as a dog, I used the free time to sign up for Facebook - after getting at least weekly nudges from people for months now. I then proceeded to invite, accept and search out people I'd like to be FB friends with. It's pretty cool - I've already been contacted by two friends from college that I hadn't communicated with in eight years.

Why did you have to go and catch the stomach flu? There are healthier ways to loose weight, you know.
