Country, chocolate, Chapin

Hey gang. Sorry for you non-Facebook fans. I've been putting stuff up there.

Quick recap:

- Saw Karling Abbeygate Friday night at the Pike Bar. She's a kick-ass country crooner, reminiscent of Patsy Cline, who has a three-piece rockabilly band backing her up. The place was jumpin'!

- I passed on two Super Bowl parties - both were too far of a drive home (San Clemente, Hollywood) - so I met two friends at Wing Nuts, my favorite wing place, in Costa Mesa for the big game. They have Amstel Light on tap, and they serve fresh wings and fresh, thick-cut potato chips. Due to the recession, they're offering half-price wings on Sundays. Seems like I have a new must stop on my Sunday motorcycle rides ...

- Went to the Anaheim Ducks'game Monday night at Honda Center (pictured) to help with an online singing contest we're putting on. People sing for 30 seconds, and the winner gets to sing the National Anthem before a Ducks game.

What's up:

- Friday, I'm riding solo up to downtown L.A. to see I See Hawks in L.A., my favorite southern California band, at the Redwood Bar. A friend may meet me. If not, I'll rock out by my lonesome ...

- Saturday, Belmont Shore is hosting its annual chocolate festival. You buy a book of tickets, and browse the confections offered on sidewalk displays by the restaurants. Although I don't have much of a sweet tooth (one reason I'm not fat), we're planning on doing the chocolate march.

- Saturday night, I'm going to McCabe's in Santa Monica to see the Chapin Sisters and their father/stepfather, Harry Chapin, perform. It's an intimate venue at a legendary guitar shop. I love the Chapin Sisters, especially Lily (the short one). Oh yeah, their music's good too ...

- Sunday, another motorcycle ride to Wing Nuts is probably in the cards.
